Worry, tension and anxiety can make the symptoms caused by digestive disorders like IBS, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and GERD much worse. Addressing these issues can help alleviate many common symptoms caused by these disorders.
Incorporating relaxation and mindfulness techniques into your daily life can improve your symptoms and your general sense of well-being. Yoga is one such practice shown to help improve digestive disorders. In fact, a single posture called “tree pose” has been shown in studies to lower the stress hormone cortisol. By focusing your attention on the breath and balance required in tree pose, stress and anxiety decrease thereby lowering levels of cortisol in the blood.
“Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Yoga and other relaxation techniques allow you to take control of your health. By finding “peace” you can change your body and reduce your symptoms! You can fully engage in life and all its pleasures.
